The Master’s degree in Sport Psychology focuses on the topic of performance. Today, more than ever, attaining a top level of performance plays a central role in society. This applies in equal measure to competitive sport and to the whole field of business management.

This makes the work of a Sport Psychologist in competitive sport and in business a varied and interesting field. It supports goals such as optimising the performance of individuals and groups through intensive coaching processes. It contributes to increasing motivation and improving communication and mental health. It facilitates conflict resolution and helps in the management of crisis situations.

To advise athletes, coaches and managers on a scientifically founded basis, a broad range of competences spanning psychology, sport science and business is essential. The Master’s degree in Sport Psychology at BSP enables graduates to perform reliable consulting work in the fields of sport and business. The double qualification for working in both competitive sport and business under the theme of performance represents a productive, promising and in many ways interesting qualification in the context of professional practice.

As well as teaching competences for advising individuals, the Master’s degree in Sport Psychology attaches particular importance to working in teams and groups. You will therefore initially acquire essential knowledge in the fields of management, economics, sport science and psychology that is geared towards working on top-level performance. Subsequently you will develop occupational competences such as:

  • Team and organisation development
  • Developing psychological analysis of matches and patterns of movement


As the Course Director, Prof. Dr. Andreas Marlovits (Professor of Sport Psychology) has extensive experience in supporting professional sportspeople, clubs and associations as well as in consultancy and management. He is a psychological psychotherapist and has also gained several additional qualifications. For many years he has worked in corporate management and as a sports psychologist (Bundesliga football, preparation and support for Olympics, world championships etc.) in Germany and abroad. The teaching staff consists of academically respected and professionally experienced experts who are working in competitive sport and business.
