How transparent and measurable are companies when it comes to sustainability?
Students of the Master’s programme in Sustainability & Management at BSP Business & Law School explored this question in their Impact Analysis Project, conducted in cooperation with the open-data NGO Wikirate.
Over the course of the semester, students analysed Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) disclosures of 42 companies from diverse sectors. Their work combined academic research with real-world impact: each student assessed ESG indicators on Wikirate’s open platform, contributed data to a public knowledge base, and presented recommendations for companies, policymakers, and civil society.
The project illustrates BSP’s mission to bridge theory and practice through hands-on collaboration with businesses and organisations. Students applied classroom knowledge directly to real corporate reports, gaining a critical understanding of sustainability communication, transparency, and accountability.
A detailed summary of findings and student insights is available in the article What CSRD Reports Reveal About Corporate Sustainability – A Student-Led Impact Analysis by Prof. Marte Hentschel, Professor of Sustainable Fashion at BSP Berlin.
