There are many options for financing your studies, depending on your personal circumstances. We have compiled some information to help you with your decision.
BSP Educational Fund
Cooperation Partner: Brain Capital
Brain Capital is an educational fund founded by the WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management where students can receive financial support to pay their tuition fees. Unlike a student loan, which requires immediate repayment, the Brain Capital Education Fund offers income-based repayment.
What exactly does this Mean?
Brain Capital makes the direct payment of the tuition fees to the university. There is no repayment or interest payment during the study period. Instead, after successfully completing their studies and earning a minimum gross income of EUR 30,000 per calendar year, former students pay a fixed portion of their income for 10 payment years. If your income is below the minimum income, there will be no repayment during that year. The payment obligation ends 20 years after completing your studies, regardless of the payments and years of payment actually made. There are also fair upper limits on the repayment amount.
Application Process
After securing their place at BSP Business & Law School, applicants send their complete application documents (CV, A-levels or university entrance qualification, Bachelors' certificate, confirmation of their place at the university, ID) to Brain Capital: bsp@braincapital.de. The application documents are checked within 48 hours and applicants are invited to a contract interview. In addition to getting to know each other, this is where contractual terms and conditions are set out. After a decision has been made on the scope of funding, the final contract is sent to the applicant via DocuSign for digital signature. Please note that your A-level results will impact the decision on the scope of funding.

A lot of savings banks/banks offer student loans with comparatively low interest rates and long repayment periods.
Student loans are dedicated loans for school or university education. You determine the terms and conditions in a negotiation with the bank of your choice. These terms and conditions include the loan period, disbursement rate (and with that, the loan’s total sum), and the resulting repayment and interest rate.
Usually, the repayment is to be made in fixed amounts after a ‘cool-down period’ following your studies.

The Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is a great option for many students to fund their studies. Being granted BAföG most often depends on your own and your parents’ income – however, it is always worth applying. 50% of BAföG funding is a gift, the other 50% is an interest-free loan.
Being rejected for BAföG is often a sufficient criterion for being granted rent subsidy.

A scholarship is usually financial support for studying from a foundation, an association, or a company. In order to receive a scholarship, applicants often have to go through a selection process and meet certain criteria. While certain organisations select applicants based on performance, others emphasise volunteering.
We have compiled a list of various scholarship providers:

Newly enrolled siblings of students at or alumni of BSP or a partner university (BSP Business and Law School Hamburg, MSB Medical School Berlin, HMU Health and Medical University, or MSH Medical School Hamburg) receive a 10% discount on their tuition fees. The discount cannot be combined with other special conditions.
For questions about funding, please contact Vivian Botelho from the Course Guidance and Admission Office Team.
STIBET
We also have a scholarship called STIBET for students already enrolled at BSP, which is specifically aimed at international students who have obtained their university entrance qualifications abroad, do not have German citizenship, and have not yet obtained a German university degree. We offer three different STIBET scholarships:
- Scholarships for special commitment
- Graduation scholarships (financial need)
- Scholarships for equal opportunities
The STIBET scholarships depend on funding by DAAD and are awarded once a year. For more information, you can check the dedicated DAAD website (website only available in German).
